  • National Day of Reflection Tuesday 23rd March 2021

    Mon 22 Mar 2021 School

Tomorrow will be the anniversary of the UKs first lockdown because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. It will also be a Marie Curie National Day of Reflection and this is a charity that has been very much supported by Croesty Primary School in the past and particularly by a former Chair of Governors Cllr. Ken King. Today the charity looks after people who are very unwell and who unfortunately will not get better.

The Charity is named after Marie Curie the Polish scientist who was a trail blazer in the study of radio activity.  Marie Curie became the first woman professor of Paris University and from the very beginning she could see through her science investigations that her discoveries could be used to help others.

Today we see how her work has impacted on modern medical science as we use radio activity in X-rays and to control and destroy cancers.

The symbol of the Marie Curie Charity is the daffodil – and you’ll see plenty of these on our school grounds at the moment. You’ll also notice them around a plaque and growing under a tree at the front of our building. The plaque commemorates the fund raising efforts of Cllr King and Croesty Primary School for Marie Curie and the tree was planted by Cllr King and the children in 1995.

  • Mrs Susan Taylor

    Mon 22 Mar 2021 School
We received some very sad news this weekend with the death of  Mrs Sue Taylor. Sue was one of the longest serving memebrs of staff here at Croesty Primary School. Starting as a lunchtime supervisor in March 1977, Sue stayed with the role right up until July 2011. Over  thirty four years Sue helped to look after thousands of children here at Croesty. So many who will now be adults will have some very fond memories  of Sue and their lunchtime plays because of her work and that of others in her team. Sue loved working with the children and was always full of fun and enthusiasm. Our thoughts are with Sue's family and friends - she will be greatly missed.
  • Croesty Reopens for All Children

    Fri 12 Mar 2021 School

Croesty Primary School reopens for all children once again on Monday 15th March. We've changed some of the organisation for arrivals at the beginning of the day and departures at the end. We are doing our best to maintain good social distancing for everyone and reduce waiting times too if we can. We will be about on the first few days to make sure everyone knows how best to get on and off the site. We'll also be looking for ways to improve the organisation and make things safer for everyone.

Our Foundation Phase parents have been amazing with social distancing in the mornings and afternoons and everyone has left the grounds in under five minutes at the end of each school day which is really impressive.

Make sure you've downloaded the schoolapp to your mobile phones so we can contact you easily and quickly. We are hoping that we don't have to close any of our classes because of COVID-19 and we're confident that everyone in our school community are working together to do everything we can to reduce the risks.

We know these are difficult times and some of our families will be struggling financially because of the impact this pandemic has had on people working. We are encouraging all of our children to wear their school uniforms but if your child has grown out of their uniform since they wore it last and buying new uniform is going to be a challenge don't worry. So long as your child is wearing comfortable appropriate clothes and shoes we won't be asking questions for the rest of this school year.
